It Is Well

I just finished leading the music for our Plus ministry.  I love it!  They know all the hymns I was raised on.  Someone called out "It is Well."  Whenever I sing this song I make sure to sing this verse...

"My sin, oh the bliss of this glorious thought!  My sin, not in part, but the whole is nailed to the cross, and I bear it no more!  Praise the Lord, praise the Lord oh my soul!"

In all the songs ever written, this one says it best.  I no longer bear the weight of my sin!  The Father sees me as His Son!

I am amazed at the simple gospel (which I so easily forget.)  All I have, communion with God, eternal life, is all a gift from Him.  His grace affords it.  I can do nothing to earn it, and I can nothing to remove it.  Nothing!  That's an incredible thought!  His love - lavished on me!

What's Required?

I was just thinking about all the things I have to do.  There's alot!  You probably have even more!

But I love to think on Micah 6:8 where God says, "Hey, focus!  I've shown you what's good and what I require of you.  To act justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with Me!" (my paraphrase.)

What Goes Through a Baby's Mind?

What's in his head?  I haven't the foggiest!  He's entertained by such simple things.

When I look at him I think of all the possibilities.  What wonderful things might God have planned for him?  Just how much joy and blessing will he have if he truly loves the Lord?  As his daddy, all I can do is sit and marvel.  There are so many wonderful things he has yet to experience- he has no idea!

What might our Father have in store for us?  What does He think when He looks down at us- when we're convinced we have it all figured out?  What new joys and pleasures wait for us as we grow in Him?  All I can confidently say is...we have no idea!

Stables

The last several days, Heather and I have gotten to bed late and woken up early.  It's a combination of a new baby, and the increased responsibilities we've taken on.  Sometimes dishes get left in the sink over night and we wake up exhausted.  But the strange thing is, I truly believe God wants us to do them all.

But if God wants it done, shouldn't it be easy?  Uh...?

Proverbs says that where there are no oxen the stable is clean (I like clean by the way :).  But with the strength of the ox comes much gain (my paraphrase of course.)  So in order to get things done, you need oxen.  But oxen...well...they do what oxen do - I think you know what I mean.

So I'm encouraged by a little messiness.  At least it means we're open for business :)

Love ya'll

Welcome!

Hello Everyone!  I actually wrote a brilliant blog earlier but was disconnected from the internet.  Circumstances being what they were I was unable to save my text.  Just believe me when I say, you missed out on some truly ingenious insight that is now lost forever.  Literally words and words of brilliant reflections from a misunderstood and complicated man.

You'll just have to wait for future blogs :)

Love ya'll!
